The Footy is a very small radio-controlled sailboat
whose length is a mere 12 inches (30.5 cm). The hull can be made from foam board, fiberglass, styrene, delrin plastic or simply with thin sheets of plywood fitted together. Two servos are used, one to control the sail and one for the rudder. For
additional information, please see the Footy section of Wikipedia, and the Footy Class Association website.

| La Diablesse |
La Diablesse (la jah-bless) from the French
- female devil or she-devil, also believed to be a bride of the devil.
Based on Caribbean folklore, she is a notorious creature that
roams the night, lying in wait to lead men astray. Her face resembles that of a corpse, hidden under a beautiful wide-brimmed
hat. She is always dressed exquisitely in a white blouse and a long petticoated skirt to hide her feet, one being
a cloven hoof that warns of her ominous approach.
The story goes that some half-drunk husband, staggering home late
at night, is proposition by a seductive lady. Hand in hand, they stroll to a secluded spot at the brink of a precipice where
the Lajabless lifts the brim of her hat disclosing a skull beneath. Terrified, the husband falls over the precipice
and dies.

IM1 - 'IMitation One'
Hull - Tim Willings, Rig - Tim Willings (with thanks to Brent Carter). Hull is loosely based on the work of Brent Carter - and his 'narrow doubled ended' foam board footies... the rig, in this case, is a direct copy of one of Brent's rigs. The photos which follow were taken in the backyard pool and on Lake Weldona in Orlando, FL on 29 September 2008. For an enlarged view, click on the thumbnail view of the photo.
The development of the Footy class, these boat and the website representation is a work in progress...
